Copyright Policy
Last updated: 28 September 2026
This policy explains who holds the rights to the music on Songfindr, how to tell us if you believe a work infringes your rights, and what we do when we receive a notice.

1. Our catalogue: one-stop for most tracks
Most of the Songfindr catalogue is one-stop. For these tracks we are also the music publisher of the composition, and we hold, under written agreements with the artists, the right to license the recording. A single Songfindr licence therefore clears both the master and the composition, with no other party to contact.
The remaining tracks are licensed to us by their rights holders under written agreements. Because we hold these agreements directly, we can check any claim against them.
2. Reporting an infringement
If you believe a work available on Songfindr infringes your copyright or related rights, write to [email protected] with the subject line "Copyright notice" and include:
- Your full name, or your company name, and your contact details (postal address, email, phone).
- The work you believe is infringed, and the rights you hold in it (author, publisher, label, collecting society...).
- The link to each track concerned on songfindr.com.
- Any evidence of your rights: contract, registration, release reference or ISRC, first publication date.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by you or by the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act on their behalf, with your signature (an electronic signature is accepted).
3. What happens next
We acknowledge every notice and reply within 7 days.
A track is not removed on receipt of a notice alone: we first check the claim against our agreements with the artist and, where relevant, with the other rights holders. We may ask you for additional information during this review.
If the claim is substantiated, we remove the track from the catalogue, stop issuing new licences for it and inform you. If it is not, we explain why.
4. A Content ID claim on a licensed video
If you hold a Songfindr licence and your video receives a claim for one of our tracks, this is not an infringement: the track is registered with a content-identification system to protect it. Write to [email protected] with your licence number and the link to the video, and we will have the claim released.
5. Notices made in bad faith
A notice that is knowingly inaccurate, or sent to have a track removed without holding the rights to it, may engage the liability of its author. We reserve the right to ignore such notices.
